We Have Arrived! First Impressions of the Southern Hemisphere

by Aaron Marshall on January 30, 2009

We woke up this morning looking out to Table Mountain (see video on this post). It was beautiful… We are staying with Stephen & Robin Murray, a couple that we met through church. They are very kind and hospitable. We will be staying with them for a week before joining up with All Nations in another part of Cape Town.

Ice Storms and Sunshine

Probably the most shocking thing so far is the weather. We went from ice storms in the middle of winter to sunshine in the heart of summer, all within the same 3 day period.

A Few Inches to the Left

Apparently Cape Town is very european, rather than being radically different, it feels more like everything is moved a few inches to the left. I imagine the differences will become more dramatic as we begin our work with All Nations in the local townships, though we are grateful for a gradual introduction into a new culture.

Its the first time we have been anywhere that they drive on the other side of the road. It got especially interesting when we came to an intersection.

Deep Gratitude and Steady Anticipation

It feels like we are dreaming. Nichole and I have talked about about it for the last year and its been 10 years since I felt God calling me here. Deep gratitude and a steady anticipation is filling our hearts. We know God has brought us here and we are thrilled to see what he has in store…

Africa…

Glad you have started your trip off well. I wondered where you would be staying. We still have no electricity at work and if we don’t get it back on by Sunday will be going to the higlands office. Keep us updated loved the video!
