Road Trip Re-cap and Favorite Photos from the West

by Aaron Marshall on January 5, 2009

7500miles in less than five weeks. We visited with a ton of friends and family and got to talk to a few great churches along the way too. Overall we feel pretty fortunate for the opportunity to take this trip.

Nichole and I learned a lot about eachother during the long drives, and we got to listen to a lot of great audiobooks as well. Through it all, we felt God preparing our hearts for Africa and that made the trip supremely edifying.

Just want to clarify… We saved up money for this trip for several months, no mission donations were used to fund our vacation :)

I thoroughly enjoyed following your trip. You used twitter the best way I can imagine, which is taking someone on a journey and telling a story with each tweet. I wish more people used Twitter and Flickr to tell stories that connect, instead of using it as a second email account.

I have always dreamed of making a trip like yours. Ashley, my wife, knows that this is a dream of mine, and that it probably won’t happen for sometime with our 3 small kiddos. However, your posts gave me dream deposits and glimpses of the joy I’ll experience one day.

Peace guys.
